I have lived in Reno for 42 years and have operated my own business for 35 of those years. I love this city, the state of Nevada, and all the opportunities they provide. I am proud to be involved in the Reno community as a neighbor and volunteer, and especially as a concerned citizen when interacting with our local elected members. I am inspired by a renewed spirit of civic activism that is spreading across our nation, and I am motivated by the idea that our fragile democracy is only held together when citizens participate.

With the encouragement and support of my family and friends, I have decided to enter the race for Nevada Assembly District 24 to be more involved in the decision-making process in our legislature.

I believe that government should genuinely serve the interests of the people it represents, and I hope to be a sensible and reliable voice when working together to find common ground. I am eager to listen to the concerns of the people of my district and learn how our state government can more effectively work for all Nevadans to bring positive change.

I have owned and operated a small local retail shop since 1982 in the Wells Avenue Business District where I am grateful to have deep-rooted connections with other business owners and residents. I am founder and past president of the Wells Avenue Merchants and Property Owners Association, which has brought about real change and continues to promote great community pride since 2000.

I have been a registered herbalist and professional member of the American Herbalists Guild since 1994, and have taught the use of medicinal herbs at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno for 15 years. From 1985 to 1989 I served as a volunteer member and chairman of the Washoe Zephyr Natural Food Co-op.

I had the honor to serve as member-at-large on the Nevada State Board of Oriental Medicine from 1999-2005, and was appointed to both the City of Reno Business License Task Force in 2013, and chairman of its Anti-Graffiti Task Force in 2014. I also had the privilege of working together with many community members to create the Wells Avenue Neighborhood Plan which was adopted in 2011.

I am married to my long-time partner, who is a teacher with the WCSD in Reno.

I am excited for this opportunity to serve the citizens of Nevada. I hope to be an example to others and demonstrate how an ordinary citizen can make a difference.
